Partners involved with Chesterfield Waterside have joined together to support The Chesterfield Foodbank.

Chesterfield Waterside (Bolsterstone Group and Chesterfield Borough Council), Britcon (UK) LtdBond Bryan Architects and H E Barnes Ltd, have raised and donated £530 of food essentials to support The Chesterfield Foodbank.

Based on Carrwood Road Industrial Estate in Sheepbridge, Chesterfield Foodbank is a central hub for four food banks in Chesterfield – central Chesterfield, New Whittington, Loundsley Green and Brimington. The Chesterfield Foodbank has been working tirelessly to provide emergency food packs for people facing unemployment, illness or income reduction during the pandemic crisis.

It is part of the The Trussell Trust, which provides support to over 420 foodbanks across the UK.

Peter Swallow, Managing Director of Bolsterstone Group, the company behind Chesterfield Waterside commented: “Supporting the local community and helping it thrive has always been at the heart of the Chesterfield Waterside regeneration scheme so we were delighted to get in involved with the donation to the Chesterfield Foodbank.”

Councillor Tricia Gilby, Leader of Chesterfield Borough Council, added: “We’re really pleased to be able to support Chesterfield Foodbank by making this donation. The team at Chesterfield Foodbank do an amazing job to support local families in these unprecedented times. We hope this donation will be able to make a real difference to the lives of local families.”

Although already a partner in Chesterfield Waterside, Chesterfield Borough Council is also funding the delivery of the high-quality office building, Number One Waterside, in Basin Square. As part of its construction, Chesterfield Borough Council has funded the installation of a camera on the roof of Chesterfield College to capture footage of the building’s construction. The footage is being used to support the college’s construction students as part of their remote learning programme during lockdown. To find out more about that partnership, please visit here.
