Chesterfield’s annual Love Chesterfield Awards are returning to celebrate success in the town and its business community.
Nominations are now open for the awards and its organiser, Destination Chesterfield, is urging people to put forward their favourite food, drink, and retail businesses for an award.
This year, there are more new businesses to put forward for the 10 categories. More than 30 new businesses have opened in Chesterfield town centre in the last 12 months with even more set to open.
The new businesses, which include market traders, food and drink businesses and retail units, show how the town is not standing still – and is in a strong position to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
Additionally, the Market Hall has welcomed four pop-up stores – Hobson’s Choice, Sparky’s Treats, The Little Ark, and Adelante Antiques.
In addition to new businesses, since 2021 nine businesses have also expanded into larger premises in the town centre, these include Rebel, Pizza Pi, Vintage Tea Rooms, Bee-Orchid and Twelfth Craft.
Peter Swallow, who as well as being Managing Director of Bolsterstone Group, the company behind the Chesterfield Waterside development, is also Chair of Destination Chesterfield, commented: “The town’s businesses have, once again, proved that they don’t stand still in the face of adversity, adapting and, in some cases, expanding, during the pandemic.
“Nominating a business for a Love Chesterfield Award is an excellent opportunity for people to show their appreciation for the town’s businesses that go the extra mile.”

As well as the public nomination categories in the 2022 Love Chesterfield Awards, there are also a number of categories in which businesses can put themselves forward for, including the Regeneration Award, Accessibility Award, Sustainability Award, Apprentice of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. Entries for these categories close on 30th June.
One Waterside Place, Chesterfield’s premier office development in the Basin Square neighbourhood of Chesterfield Waterside, was shortlisted for the Regeneration Award in the 2021 Love Chesterfield Awards.
The winners of the awards, which will be decided by the mystery panel of judges, will be announced at a glittering black tie awards ceremony at the Winding Wheel Theatre on Wednesday 12 October.
