Chesterfield Waterside

It’s not just Chesterfield Waterside that continues to make progress in 2021.

Bolsterstone Group, the company behind the £340 million Chesterfield Waterside regeneration scheme, is making significant progress with its much anticipated £300 million mixed-use scheme West Bar scheme in Sheffield.

The scheme, which is being delivered by Bolsterstone’s sister company Urbo Regeneration in partnership Peveril Securities, is being funded by Legal & General.

Reserved matters planning applications have been submitted for the delivery of the £150 million first phase of the West Bar development in Sheffield city centre. The planning applications submitted for phase one of the scheme include a new 100,000 sq ft office building, ground floor retail and leisure space, and 368 Build to Rent residential apartments.

The applications represent a significant milestone for the much anticipated £300 million mixed-use scheme and will deliver much needed Grade A office accommodation in the city centre. Once complete, the entire scheme is expected to create around 6,000 new jobs as well as supporting Sheffield’s major housing needs.

Peter Swallow commented: “We are pleased to be able to submit this application to kickstart our delivery plans for the first phase at West Bar which ultimately aims to deliver up to 1 million sq ft of vibrant new mixed-use space.

“No.1 West Bar Square will offer large footprint, modern office accommodation, currently lacking in Sheffield city centre, with capacity at West Bar to accommodate more than 6,000 new jobs. The West Bar neighbourhood already boasts key office occupiers including the Home Office, top 50 law firm Irwin Mitchell and the Crown and Family Courts.”

In addition to Chesterfield Waterside, West Bar in Sheffield, Bolsterstone Group’s property investment portfolio includes some of the UK’s largest regeneration sites – New Bolton Woods in Bradford and Moneystone Park in Staffordshire.

Like West Bar, the Chesterfield Waterside scheme continues apace following the submission of an additional Reserved Matters application for the remaining elements of Basin Square. Most recently the steel frame was completed for the seven-storey office accommodation One Waterside Place.
